Leopard enters residential space in Thane, creates panic

ULHASNAGAR: A leopard created panic when it entered the residential area of Ulhasnagar, in Thane district of Maharashtra, in the early hours of Sunday.
The leopard‘s presence has shocked locals as this is the first time when it has been spotted in Ulhasnagar.

The forest officials managed to tranquilize the big cat with a dart and capture it after a four-hour-long operation. Later, the leopard has been sent to in Borivali.

The locals said that leopard was first seen by a girl at tabela situated opposite her residence after which she raised alarm and locals witnessing leopard informed police who called the forest officials and the fire brigade.

Forest officials and the fire department arrived at the spot around 10.30am and started the rescue operation.

It was around 4.30 pm when team managed to rescue leopard which later was sent to National park. Forest department official suspect leopard may have come from Bhimashankar forest rang through area.
