Ramnavami hits JAC examination schedule

RANCHI: The () on Monday announced that two intermediate examination papers of which is scheduled to be held on March 26 and March 27 will now be held on April 2 and April 3. The council took the decision on Monday and stated Ramnavami celebrations as a reason behind the change.
JAC chairman said, “There are many areas which are prone to communal clashes during Ramnavami. This unduly hampers the transportation facilities in major cities like and Ranchi and can pose a danger to our students.” He added, “The council has deferred the examinations scheduled immediately after Ramnavami on March 25 so that the students can safely commute to their examination centres.”

The papers scheduled for March 26 to April 2 were mathematics and statistics and subjects rescheduled from March 27 to April 3 were computer science is anthropology.

Students expressed mixed reactions to the sudden change in the routine. , an intermediate science student from Dhanbad, said, “I saw the news circulating on social media but I was not sure if it is true. I stay in a hostel in Ranchi and I have already booked my tickets for home.” She added, “I will cancel my tickets only after I come across an official notice from my centre.”

Singh said measures are being taken by the council to circulate the news so that the change in the notification reaches every examinee at the earliest. “The JAC is issuing notices to all the affiliated schools and colleges. The district officials, including the DC and district education officers have been instructed to make sure that the notice is circulated as needed.”

The switch in the dates will be notified to the treasuries responsible for the safeguarding of the question papers separately. “We have requested the treasuries to take extra care to ensure that no untoward incident of paper leaks take place due to the switch in the dates,” Singh said.
