14 individuals arrested for gang-raping minor tribal lady

HYDERABAD: Police have arrested 14 persons for allegedly gang-raping a 15-year-old in district, Telangana.

As per the victim‘s family, the girl was lured by two youths when she had gone to buy chocolates from a nearby shop, a day before her 16th birthday, last week. The two youths, including an autorickshaw driver, approached her and offered to drop her at her house. Both the accused drove her to an isolated place on the periphery of the forest and allegedly raped her. The duo then called five of their associates, who allegedly sexually assaulted her. Later they shifted her to an abandoned hut on the outskirts of Adaviramavaram where she was allegedly raped by five more youths.

The accused left her at Dubbagumpu village in the early hours of the next day. She reached her village two days ago and informed her parents about the incident. The victim‘s mother filed a complaint against 15 persons with the Edulla Bayyaram police on March 17.

Based on the complaint, police nabbed 14 accused, whereas one managed to escape.

Manuguru DSP on Tuesday told that all the arrested accused were in the age group of 20-25 years and most of them were school drop-outs.
