Foreigner caught with prohibited satellite tv for pc telephone at Varanasi airport

VARANASI: The police and intelligence agencies swung into action when a foreigner was caught with prohibited iridium satellite phone at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Babatpur on Wednesday, just a day before the arrival of German President .
The boarding pass of the foreigner was cancelled, and he was handed over to police for further investigation. The matter was also intimated to (IB) and local intelligence unit (LIU).

According to reports, a national along with his family went to the airport for boarding Agra bound flight of (AI 406) at 11:30am. The personnel detected some suspicious object in his luggage while checking through x-ray machine. When search they found an iridium satellite phone. After failing to get satisfactory answer the CISF personnel cancelled his boarding pass and handed over to police.

The CISF deputy commandant at the airport SK Jha told TOI that the man was taken under custody for investigation as he was carrying prohibited satellite phone, while his family was allowed to go. He said that the police are investigating the matter how he reached the city with the restricted satellite phone. The Phoolpur SO when ed said that the matter was being investigated.
