Hyderabad man donates Rs 50,000 to Kathua gangrape sufferer‘s household

HYDERABAD: The poor economic condition of ‘s family has prompted many to come forward to help them financially. Following the rape and murder of the 8-year-old in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, spotlight was also on the poverty of the family. While an online fund raiser has got good response with people from different countries chipping in with their contributions, some people in Telangana have also taken the initiative to pool in money to be handed over to the victim‘s father.
Body builder Esa Misri of Hyderabad made a contribution of Rs 50,000. Bank account details of the victim‘s father are also being circulated in the city to help the family.

An online fundraiser on GoFundMe has 6,500 dollars in contribution as against the target of 30,000 dollars. The campaign was started on April 12 by Azhar Pasha, CEO, Rahbar Foundation, Irving, Texas, US.

In the appeal, Azhar Pasha said that they had spoken to the victim‘s family and understood their financial situation. “The victim‘s father is a poor nomad and the family is living under the stress and fear. We have decided to help them financially so the family can do some business to improve their living conditions and come out of the shock and fear,” the appeal read. A Srinagar-based NGO will handover the funds to the victim‘s family. Several people have donated 100 dollars each.

Congress leader Salman Nizami said that he had spoken to the family. “Offered them shelter & a piece of land in my home town. It is a small gesture, but it’s something I needed to do!”he tweeted.
