​​Chinese language vacationers take to election tourism in Mysuru

MYSURU: A new kind of – – has been attracting foreign tourists to India recently.
Tour operators are approaching foreign tourists who are interested in watching from up close the election process in India. Now campaigns by various political parties are gathering pace, especially in the rural pockets of Mysuru.

Election tour packages will starts from Mysuru Amba Vilasa Palace.

Operators will show and explain the history of king ‘s (Mysuru Maharaja) rule, and will later explains how the kingdom turned to democracy, and how the state of Karnataka came to be.

The initiation of the tourist includes the profile of the current democratic form of governance, thefedera structure , the roles of the President, the Prime Minister, the state chief ministers, the cabinet, the election of MLAs and MPs, their responsibilities, the respective roles of the city corporations and the gram panchayats and other democratic institutions.

Tour operators bring tourists to VIP constituencies, where the guides explain party campaigns, show them around and take them to rallies and initiate them to political discussions and participation in the villages.

our operators show tourists the district commissioner‘s office, election related works at the DC office, police security, check posts, political gift offers and vehicle inspection.

“On April 12th, we brought Chinese tourists to Chamundeshwari constituency (CM will contest from here) . Tourists enjoyed MLA G T Devegowda‘s campaign, ” said Karnataka Tourists‘ Forum and Mysuru Travels Association president B S Prashanth.

Earlier , this kind of tourism was tested during Gujarat elections also.

“We are campaigning for Election tourism. We have shared information to all tourist organisations in the country. I‘ve sent the lowdown on election tourism to more than 25 tourist organisations on Whatsapp groups too,” said a tour operator.

Mysuru is a tourist hotspot for Amba Vilasa Palace, Chamundi Hills, Zoo, KRS Dam, Brindavana, Bandipura, Nagarahole and other national parks.

Foreign tourists have shown extra interest in the political goings-on at the Chamundeshwari constituency and Varuna constituency.
