Two actual property brokers held for dishonest builder

PUNE: Two — (57) of Nana Peth and Sudhir Mahabaleshwar Kamat (62) of Bibvewadi — were arrested on Monday for cheating and forging documents of a disputed property in , two days after builder Manish Milani lodged a complaint.
Milani alleged in the FIR that the duo had demanded a share in the 69.23-acre land in Lohegaon over which an ownership dispute was going on between his father, Haresh Milani, and the ministry of defence from 2010. The suspects allegedly threatened Milani that they would create forged documents related to the disputed land and create legal hurdles for him.

Milani stated in his FIR that following their persistent threats and demand for a share in the land and Rs25 crore, he told the duo he would pay them Rs5 crore in advance and approached the police. He called Kamat to German Bakery in for collecting the advance.

He said, “A police team arrested Kamat at German Bakery soon after I handed over two cheques of Rs4 crore and Rs1 crore and recovered a fake memorandum of understanding (MoU) pertaining to the disputed property from him. When Kamat was brought to the police station for questioning he revealed Khan had prepared the forged MoU. Khan was later arrested.”

Sub-inspector N M Pawar of the Koregaon Park police said, “We have registered Milani’s FIR against Kamat, Khan and another person (name withheld). The arrested duo will be produced before a magisterial court on Tuesday.”
