Thane: Stifling week forward in district, warn weathermen

THANE: After experiencing a pleasant weather over the past few days with the temperature hovering around 33 degree Celsius, weathermen have advised citizens to brace themselves for a stifling week. Experts asserted that temperature in the lake city is expected to rise by five to six degrees and will continue to remain so for the next three days.
The for Thane district has predicted that the temperature is likely to even reach the 40 degree Celsius mark on Tuesday. Fortunately, the soaring mercury levels are likely to dip from 39-40 degree Celsius to 35-36 degrees by the end of the week, giving some respite to residents.

Weathermen claimed that this drop by a few notches will reduce the minimum temperatures which are expected to hover around 24 degree Celsius.

Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist at skymetweather, a private Indian company that provides weather forecast, said, “In the coming three days, the winds are likely to change their direction. Earlier, we had the westerly winds which are relatively cooler as they come from the Arabian Sea. But now, for the next few days, we will be getting winds from the North i.e. parts of Gujarat and where the temperatures have already surpassed the 40 degree range. So, we will be experiencing hotter days. But, the situation is likely to change as the winds would resume its normal direction by Thursday, wherein the temperatures hover around 35-36 degree Celsius.”

Citizens said that they have been anticipating the situation and preparing themselves for the same.

“Since it was quite pleasant over the past few days, I had stopped using the air conditioner at night and hoping for a decent electricity bill. But now, I think I will have to start using it again. Even in the afternoons I will ensure that my windows are shut so as to not let the hot air in,” said , a resident of Ghodbundar Road.

Sonali Deshpande, another resident said, “It is very important to keep oneself hydrated during such temperatures. The body needs to be kept cool failing which stomach infections are very likely.”
